Welcome! I’m Nathan Rhodes, owner and head coach at Overcome Nutrition & Fitness Coaching in Richmond, VA. I help busy adults turn chaotic, all-or-nothing efforts into simple, sustainable strength and nutrition habits that actually fit real life.
From Chaos to Control
I did not start as a coach. I was someone who felt so insecure about myself that I was willing to do almost anything just to feel like everyone else.
Growing up, I dealt with poor eating habits, knee issues, and a very toxic relationship with my body. There was bullying, undiagnosed ADHD, and constant social pressure never to be a problem or a point of conflict, while still feeling like it was never enough. There were MANY moments I broke down, tired of feeling as though I was broken and couldn’t be fixed.
Things shifted when I hit my breaking point and decided to take ownership of my health. Not because someone told me to—in fact, I convinced myself I had to do it almost entirely alone. I found articles, workouts, reached out for support, learned what actually works (the hard way), and made plenty of mistakes along the way. Through that process, I didn’t just get stronger. I built a sense of clarity and confidence I had never had before.
Overcome exists because I know what it feels like to carry that weight around and still want more from your life.
You can’t hack your health.
Real life comes with resistance: work stress, family demands, packed schedules, self-doubt, fatigue, distractions, and that nagging fear of failing again. Often, the most challenging part of getting stronger is not adding more weight to the bar—it’s walking through the door when every voice in your mind is telling you to skip.
From the beginning, Overcome has been built on making fitness fit your life, not the other way around. With busy careers that demand a high level of performance, Richmonders need practical strategies that work with their busy lives.

Nathan Rhodes, owner of Overcome Nutrition & Fitness Coaching (ONFC), has been training for over 10 years and has 6 years of professional coaching experience. He works with people of all ages and experience levels, specializing in helping full-time professionals build strength, lose fat, and—most importantly—stay consistent despite ever-changing schedules. His approach to coaching combines guided, individualized programs with flexible scheduling, nutrition support, and habit/behavior change strategies.
